BRUCE G. HERMELEE, Esq.
Bruce Hermelee has resided and practiced law in South Florida since 1971. He is an Honors graduate of Princeton University (1963) and the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1966).
A significant part of Mr. Hermelee’s client base is derived from out-of-state attorneys and business which require representation in South Florida. Clients he has represented include: The State of Florida, The South Florida Regional Planning Council, NFL Properties, Tiffany & Co., Motorola Inc., La Farge Corporation, Norfields Corp., The Protective Group, Lynyrd Skynyrd Productions, Inc., Black Crowes, Metallica, Ellerbe Becket Architects & Engineers, Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc., City Bank and Equitable Bank.
He is a member of the New York Bar (1967) and the Florida Bar (1971). He is admitted to practice in New York and Florida state
and federal trial courts, and the United States Supreme Court. His areas of expertise include: complex commercial and residential
real estate transactions, land use, ADA, professional malpractice defense, banking & finance matters and corporate/partnership disputes.
Mr. Hermelee is past President of the Princeton Alumni Association of South Florida and a member of the National Alumni Council, Princeton University. Mr. Hermelee is a founding board member and secretary of the National Association of Environmental Professionals and a member of the Florida Committee on Cooperation between Attorneys and Accountants.
Mr. Hermelee practiced corporate and labor law in New York City from 1967 to 1970. After moving to Florida, he specialized in land use law and real estate finance. He formed the firm of Milledge & Hermelee in 1973. Thereafter, he joined the law firms of Fine Jacobson and Blackwell & Walker. Since 1985, his practice has evolved to include complex litigation in real and intellectual property matters, trademark, patent and copyright law, business disputes and American with Disabilities Act litigation. During Mr. Hermelee’s career, he has been retained by other professionals -- attorneys, engineers, architects, bankers and physicians. Countless Florida professionals have relied upon him to preserve their good names and protect their assets. -
ALAN G. GEFFIN, Esq.
Born in Montreal, Canada, Alan Geffin moved to South Florida when he was 14 years old. As a result of being raised in Quebec and South Florida, Mr. Geffin speaks both French and Spanish.
After graduating from high school, Mr. Geffin obtained an academic scholarship to the University of Miami where he earned dean’s list honors for seven of eight semesters. He also worked for and obtained a board seat on the Political Science Honor Society before graduating in 1985. Thereafter, Mr. Geffin attended the University Of Miami School Of Law where he served as an editor of the University of Miami Law Review and held a Board seat on the Bar and Gavel Honor Society.
While at the University of Miami School of Law, Mr. Geffin served as a judicial intern to Judge Natalie Baskin of the Third District Court of Appeal. Following law school, Mr. Geffin joined Fine Jacobson Schwartz Nash & Block as an associate. Then, in May of 1994, Mr. Geffin joined Zack Kosnitzky as an associate. Ultimately, Mr. Geffin was made a Partner of Zack Kosnitzky in 1998.
In an effort to create his own law firm, Mr. Geffin departed Zack Kostnizky and formed Brooks Hermelee Geffin in 2000. In 2006, Mr. Geffin and Mr. Hermelee opened Hermelee & Geffin.
Mr. Geffin has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1988. He is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts, The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, The United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Geffin has also been admitted to practice, pro hac vice, before courts in New York, Illinois, Ohio, California, Nevada, Georgia and New Jersey.
Mr. Geffin has represented clients in all facets of commercial litigation. His range of representative clients is expansive. He has represented individual shareholders in actions alleging oppression of minority shareholders and, conversely, he has also represented Fortune 500 companies. Over the past several years, he has developed an expertise in construction litigation, fraud claims, civil theft claims and attorney discipline and admission matters. He also specializes in international arbitrations.
Mr. Geffin has obtained significant results for many of his clients. Some of his more noteworthy results include a $4 million award in a construction dispute that was tried before the London Court of International Arbitration; a $6.7 million jury verdict in favor of his client, Better Construction, in a construction dispute; and successfully defending his client, The Protective Group, from a breach of contract claim seeking damages in excess of $6 million which was tried before Judge Ungaro in the Southern District Court of Florida.
Clients that Mr. Geffin has represented include: Hachette, S.A., a multi-billion dollar corporation based in Paris, France, Salvet Editores, on of the largest publishers of Spanish-language books based in Barcelona, Spain, M. Group Resorts, S.A. and affiliated companies, former owners of the Jalousie Hilton on the Island of St. Lucia, Lennar Homes, Inc.; John Alden Life Insurance Co.; Davie Concrete, Abel Homes, Dalfen Corporation of America, N&J Construction, Cinnabon, Better Construction and Cemex Corp. -
CHRISTOPHER J. PEREZ-GURRI, Esq.
Mr. Perez-Gurri was born and raised in Miami, Florida. While attending Christopher Columbus High School, Mr. Perez-Gurri was elected captain of the debate team and earned recognition at national tournaments. After graduating from High School in 1998, Mr. Perez-Gurri attended the University of Michigan where he obtained his degree in Political Science in 2002.
Mr. Perez-Gurri’s experience in the legal field commenced while he was at the University of Michigan. During summers, he worked at the law firm of Brooks Hermelee Geffin as a law clerk and legal assistant. Once he obtained his degree from the University of Michigan, Mr. Perez-Gurri continued working for Brooks Hermelee Geffin.
In 2003, Mr. Perez-Gurri commenced his legal education by attending the University Of Miami School Of Law. While attending law school, he was a four semester scholarship student. He graduated in 2006.
Mr. Perez-Gurri has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2006. He is admitted to practice in The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He has also been admitted to practice, pro hac vice, in The United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Perez-Gurri’s practice is principally focused on construction disputes, complex litigation, contracts, probate litigation and family law.

LINDSAY B. CATO, Esq.
Ms. Cato is the newest member of our team. Born and raised in Texas, Ms. Cato graduated from Texas State University in 2005. She earned a degree in Communications, with Honors. After obtaining vast experience in retail and banking, Ms. Cato emigrated to South Florida to pursue her legal career. She is an Honors graduate of the University Of Miami School Of Law and she has been admitted to practice in the State of Florida.
